Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment is hosting an Organic Wine Tasting event on Friday, March 24, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at Potomac Overlook Regional Park featuring organic wines from around the world presented by The Curious Grape. This week-long art festival features an all-media art show and sale, workshops, and demos. Open to the public daily. Opening reception Friday, March 31, 6-8pm. Free family-friendly entertainment Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Workshops and demonstrations for children, youth, families, adults, April 2-7; times and topics vary. The 29th Annual Law Day for Seniors will focus on “Elder Ready” issues with guest speaker, Chris Zimmerman, Arlington County Board chairman. The event will take place Tues., May 2, 9:15 a.m., DHS building, 3033 Wilson Blvd at N. Highland St., 7th floor. Other speakers will include Northern Virginia Legal Services attorney, Ed Zetlin, representatives from the Arlington Area on Aging, Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, TRIAD and the Office of Senior Adult Programs.
The program will include an “Ask A Lawyer” segment, update on Medicare related issues, workshops on estate planning, how to manage clutter and smart driving techniques. Seniors will also be able to obtain free photo ID cards and emergency cell phones. There is no admission fee. Money Talk: A Financial Course for Women Women have unique financial needs. Most will at some time be on their own financially. Some will never marry, some will see their marriages end in divorce, and others will outlive their husbands. This course will provide you with information that you need to take charge of your financial future. The course includes five classes:

The annual Penrose picnic will be held on Sunday, September 12th from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in Butler Holmes Park at 101 South Barton Street. As always, the neighborhood association will supply the burgers, hotdogs and drinks. The rest is potluck so bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share!
A local Penrose original band, UNIT: E, currently playing at The Leaping Lizard Lounge in Alexandria, will entertain us. They play a unique blend of rock, soul, blues, funk and more. Our local fire fighters and police officers will return with their vehicles for the kids to explore. The famous water balloon toss and pinata pull will both be back by popular demand. There will be a raffle to benefit the neighborhood association with prizes from the Cowboy Cafe, Samata Yoga Studio and Curves Fitness Center. Bring some money if you plan to purchase raffle tickets or Penrose T-shirts. Pay your annual neighborhood association membership dues at the picnic and receive bonus raffle tickets!
