Bob and Edith's Diner

Bob and Edith's DinerEstablished in 1960 and beloved of Arlingtonians of every stripe, Bob & Edith’s Diner is a local destination.  Redolent of another era, Bob & Edith’s oozes 50’s atmosphere and charm and at any hour of the day or night and is a step back in time and pace.

So much so that in recent years, and with the influx of young professionals to the area, the line is likely to begin forming at 9:00 a.m. on weekends.  Never mind, it moves quickly and the short wait is worth it; although some of us do have nostalgia for the days when it wasn’t quite the hip spot it has become!  That said, who has not enjoyed its quiet bustle in the wee hours after a night on the town in DC when the need for fried sustenance becomes urgent?

The menu is straightforward diner cooked with loads of TLC.  I seriously recommend the breakfast…even though the area has some very good breakfast joints, Bob & Edith’s is consistently good plain cooking and servers are happy to listen to requests for options, such as a couple of slices of grilled tomato with your  B & E Bacon & Eggs.  Service in general is always friendly, helpful and super-fast.
